Yas Island's evolution from a flat, largely undeveloped stretch of land into one of the Gulf's most recognizable leisure & residential destinations in the Gulf is one of Abu Dhabi's most notable planning achievements. Development gathered pace from 2009 onwards with the opening of the Yas Marina Circuit, host to the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix, followed in quick succession by Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld & the Yas Mall. What began as a destination for entertainment has since developed into a fully integrated residential community, with a steadily growing population of international families attracted by its connectivity, high quality infrastructure & proximity to some of Abu Dhabi's most sought-after schools. Where families settle, academic ambition naturally follows & on Yas Island, that ambition frequently runs directly through A Level Mathematics.
A Level Mathematics is the qualification that governs access to Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Medicine & the physical sciences at leading universities worldwide. It is cumulative, technically demanding & unforgiving of preparation that is even slightly superficial. At Amourion, we have provided specialist A Level Mathematics tuition for over twenty years. Our Abu Dhabi center on Hamdan Street supports Yas Island families directly, while our online sessions maintain the same high standard for students for whom travelling is not always practical.
A Level Mathematics is broader & more abstract than most students expect when they choose their subjects at the end of Year 11. Pure Mathematics alone spans proof, algebra, functions, coordinate geometry, sequences, trigonometry, exponentials, logarithms, differentiation & integration & each topic building directly upon the last. Statistics & Mechanics introduce an additional layer of applied reasoning that students who excel at procedural mathematics often find genuinely counterintuitive until the underlying logic is made explicit.
The mark scheme introduces an additional layer of precision. A Level examiners reward marks for clearly documented method & logical progression, rather than solely for correct final answers. A student who arrives at the correct conclusion through poorly organized or insufficiently documented steps will lose method marks that cannot be recovered through subject knowledge alone. Developing the habit of presenting mathematics in the exact format an A Level examiner expects is a discipline that must be cultivated intentionally & it is this discipline that lies at the core of every session we deliver.
Yas Island & the surrounding Abu Dhabi communities host several of the emirate's most highly regarded British & international curriculum schools. Students frequently come to us from:
Areas we cover at Amourion: Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, Reem Island, Al Raha Gardens, Khalifa City, Al Reem Island, Masdar City, Al Reef & wider Abu Dhabi

Cambridge A Level Mathematics (9709)
How we deliver our sessions
Our Abu Dhabi Amourion Training Institute center is located at Hamdan Street, Abu Dhabi. Online sessions are available for students across Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, Reem Island & the wider Abu Dhabi community were attending in person is not always convenient.
My child achieved a strong IGCSE grade but is finding the A Level transition genuinely difficult. Is that unusual?
Dr Anil Khare: Not at all & in fact the students who find the transition most challenging are often those who performed most comfortably at IGCSE. A strong IGCSE grade is typically built on dependable methods & solid recall across a extensive syllabus. A Level Mathematics requires something primarily different: continuous intellectual reasoning, the ability to construct multi-step arguments without scaffolding & a genuine fluency in algebra that goes well beyond IGCSE requirements. The student who obtained a Grade 8 through technical competence alone often encounters A Level as an entirely new intellectual challenge. We pinpoint exactly which aspects of the A Level are creating difficulty & address them directly. In most cases the underlying mathematical ability is already present & what is missing is the framework through which to apply it effectively.
My child is targeting a top university for Engineering in the UK or the US. What does their A Level Maths grade actually need to look like?
Dr Anil Khare: For Engineering at leading UK universities such as Imperial, UCL, University of Bath & Warwick, getting an A* or A in Mathematics is the standard expectation, with an A* often stated as a condition of the offer rather than a preference. For top US institutions, the framework a little bit different but the underlying principle is the same: a solid A Level Mathematics grade indicates to admissions offices that a student can meet the quantitative requirements of an Engineering degree without requiring remediation. The difference between an A & an A* in A Level Mathematics is almost never a matter of raw ability but it is a matter of having systematically removed the specific error patterns & gaps in working that prevent students from reaching the top-grade boundary. We embedded that process into every session for students aiming for the highest grades.
Abu Dhabi has excellent local tutors. Why would a family on Yas Island choose your institute over a local option?
Dr Anil Khare: Availability & specialization are fundamentally different. A Level Mathematics requires a tutor with deep, exam-specific expertise, a precise understanding of marks scheme conventions, recurring question types across past papers, the structure of method marks & the exact language expected in written responses for Statistics & Mechanics. This level of insight is developed through years of working exclusively at A Level standard, not through general mathematical competence alone. We advise every family to assess any tutor against these specific criteria: examination board expertise, familiarity with the current specification & a proven track record of moving students across grade boundaries. Proximity is a matter of convenience; examination expertise is what drives results.
How do online sessions at Amourion work for A Level Maths, where so much depends on written working?
Dr Anil Khare: Exceptionally well, provided the tools are right. Our online sessions at Amourion utilize shared digital whiteboards enabling both tutor & student to write, draw & annotate simultaneously in real time just as they would in a face-to-face setting. Every stage of a worked solution is developed live, visible to both participants as it unfolds. The student can annotate, question specific steps & submit their own attempts instantly for feedback at any stage of the problem. A Level Mathematics is built on precise written reasoning & our online environment mirrors this exactly. The majority of our Abu Dhabi students attend exclusively online & their A Level results are entirely consistent with those of students who attend in person.
